Fabric Trends To Look Out For This Spring

Textiles are a fabulously easy way to update the interior of your home without too much hassle and disruption. With so much change and creativity going on in the world at the moment, it’s a good opportunity to take a look at what’s new in the fabric designs of curtains, cushions, bedclothes, and more.

Homes and Garden magazine provides some tempting glimpses into the new trends for spring and summer this year. Whether you fancy giving your home a makeover, or just treating yourself to one or two key pieces, there are plenty of ideas out there.

The first key trend is the global look. This means a whole smorgasbord of influences, from Mexican embroidery, West African inspired geometric motifs, to Kilim stripes from Asia. The experts advise sticking to a palette of two or three shades to avoid overwhelming the room, and balancing plain and patterned areas.

Another popular trend is feel good colour combinations. As we have all spent more time at home this year, we have looked for ways to lift our mood. Joyful bright colours and prints are a perfect way to do this. Designers recommend creating a warm environment with rose pink, cherry, mustard yellow, and midnight blue.

The aim is to create a homely and nostalgic atmosphere, which chimes with the current ‘cottagecore’ fashion. To create a unique twist, designers recommend playing with scale, and mixing larger patterns with small quirky prints.

Botanicals are also a big summer trend, again inspired by the need for cheerful and uplifting home surroundings. This could mean filling your home with actual plants and flowers, and also choosing floral or botanical prints for bedding, tablecloths, curtains or accessories. It’s all about creating a warm and welcoming space to make your home a sanctuary.
